For Hospitals
Who we work for
Small Hospitals Collective works for small and independent private hospitals in Australia. We have obtained a class exemption from the ACCC, protecting you from claims of anti-competitive behaviour.
Small means less than $10m turnover per annum. Most of our members are day hospitals, but small, independent overnight hospitals face the same challenges as day hospitals and are welcome to join us.
This turnover limit is required under our class exemption granted by the ACCC.
Why
Small and independent hospitals are at an inherent disadvantage in the market. They have to carry out all of the activities of large hospitals, with far fewer people to do it.
Looking after patients, relationships with doctors, staffing, compliance and regulatory concerns, building issues, maintenance, procurement, relationships with health insurance and other payers, to name a few. There are endless jobs to do to properly manage a small hospital, with very few people to manage the work
Small and independent hospitals are the market’s lowest cost providers of health care services. If these hospitals do well, the private health sector does well.
What we do
The goal of small hospitals collective is to operate as a virtual support office – taking some of those tasks off your hands, allowing you more time to focus on patient care.
We can take care of your relationship and agreements with the health funds, ensuring the best outcome for the lowest investment of your time. Experienced specialists will undertake contract renewals on your behalf.
We can take care of your supplier relationships. We ensure that you’re getting the best deal. We point you in the direction of better suppliers and better deals - which we’ve negotiated on behalf of the whole group.
Aggregated purchasing drives savings for the whole group. At the same time we can provide value for suppliers through more sales, lower costs and lower transport costs.
This may mean that we have to slightly adjust purchasing behaviour. If the whole collective buys the same items from the same supplier, we can make it worthwhile for the supplier and worthwhile for your hospital and the whole group.
Teamwork and communication across members of small hospitals collective is an important component. We expect robust and respectful discussions about the right procurement for each specialty and situation
